Internship

Thank you for your interest in an internship with us! You will play a critical role in The American Heart Association’s mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke while learning valuable job skills and gaining college credit, if applicable.

 The AHA is currently seeking Community Health Interns within the Metro Atlanta market who hope to gain work experience in the nonprofit sector as well as experience promoting heart healthy messages within the community, Atlanta area businesses, and Fortune 500 corporations. This position offers the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a national organization, implementing programs in areas of health education, marketing, and corporate sales. Responsibilities may include:

·         Promoting the mission and objectives of the AHA at corporate partner health fairs
·         Promoting the mission and objectives of the AHA at community health fairs
·         Event promotion through community calendars, external newsletters, and social media
·         Volunteer cultivation and training
·         Securing of auction items and fundraising incentives from local business partners
·         Assisting in leading digital and online trainings for volunteers
·         Generation of reports and donor databases maintenance
·         Creating collateral materials and communications for fundraising efforts
·         Assisting with various event logistics

Requirements & Details: This internship requires strong oral and written communication skills; positive interpersonal skills; ability to provide superior customer service to staff, volunteers, sponsors, other organizations and the general public; ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously; and basic computer knowledge with familiarity in Microsoft Office products. This internship is unpaid; in exchange you will receive valuable experience and college credit, if applicable. Business related mileage will be reimbursed for interns. Work hours may be flexible with a pre-arranged weekly schedule based on availability. Interns must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during business hours Monday through Friday at our Marietta office, and some nights and weekends may be requested.
